Split Ends

I often hear people proclaim with upmost confidence 'I don't have split ends'... On average, 'average' being the keyword', the human head has 100,000 strands of hair... Someone please tell me how it is humanly possible to know whether each individual strand on your head has a split or not??? Some splits are more obvious than others, no doubt! Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they're not there. Until recently I thought splits only looked a certain way, and only appeared at the end of a strand... the picture to the right, shows how wrong I was. I am now at present, 43 weeks post relaxer... *moonwalk* My current enemy of progress are, you guessed it, Split Ends, taking the lead from SSKs (single strand knots). It's not so much that my hair is riddled with splits, it's more that I've noticed that my corners are more prone to splits, not the classic split either... I'm talking feather/ tree splits. The front corners of my hair are the most tightly coiled, proving to be more fragile than the other sections. The back corners of my hair are a lot looser, but seem to rub against my scarf, despite my efforts to prevent it. From now on, I will definitely focus more on my corners!

  1. Good post. I have ssks especially at my nape area and clip them off but sometimes I leave them. I trim/dust often but hope to be able to straighten and do a thorough trim one day
